Often times we try an experiment and it doesn't really work the way it says it will. Well, we tried this one and it really does work. Apparently, it works better with fuller fat milk.

Did I mention that we bought an 1/8 of a cow?
We had the opportunity to go in on a cow with some people. The meat turned out to be a bit gamey. It turned out it was actually a bull and not a cow. It was also totally grass fed. And it was um... interesting having part of a cow carcass in my kitchen.

We Survived Tsunami Day 2010
I keep seeing people wearing T-shirts that say that. It cracks me up. If you recall, we had a Tsunami scare after Chile's earthquake in February. It turned out to be nothing, but we still talk about Tsunami Day.
When we hiked up the hill.
When we hiked up the hill.
And noticed how much more prepared others were, as we left the house with only our 72 hour back packs.
We watched the water.
And the kids played on the hill.
And we were glad that we got to go home after we got the 'all clear' sign. And could laugh about surviving Tsunami Day 2010.

Are we the only weird family that plays Minute to Win it?
So far we have played the "Get the cookie from the your forehead to your mouth without using your hands"
And "Move the cotton balls from the plate to the bowl by sticking them to your nose with Vaseline"

Things We Like: Owl Pellets
OK, *like* might be a strong word for how we feel about owl pellets, but we sure did have fun dissecting them.
Arwen is making an "I'm grossed out" face, but she dug through the owl...um... vomit with gusto.
Look at this cool rodent head,
Mommy!
Mommy!
I have to say hands on science is pretty awesome. I am looking around to find some kits to buy for next year. Anyone got any suggestions? We got our owl pellets from Rainbow Resources, but it seems you can get them cheaper from Home Science Tools

To Blog or to Live
Am I the only one who feels guilty about not blogging? I love blogging, but sometimes (well, all the time) it is more fun to do things than it is to blog about them. I really wish I could just think about something I want to blog about and it would be blogged. Someone definitely needs to come up with that technology!
Over the last month that I haven't been blogging much, I have thought about blogging. I would think, "Oo, I should blog about that", but then I think about taking pictures and uploading pictures and typing and editing and it doesn't happen. I seriously don't know how these people who blog everyday do it. How do they have time to do all of the things they are blogging about?
But, I do have few blogs up my sleeve. Some fun things we did in our homeschool this spring. A Hawaii post about some of the cool things we have done lately. Some homeschool musings. And eventually our homeschool plans for next school year. Stay tuned.
